Evacuations Lifted After Propane Truck Overturns, Closes Hwy 128
The hazmat situation Tuesday closed SR-128 near the Napa, Sonoma county line. Evacuation orders were in place for about three hours.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A propane truck overturned Tuesday morning, closing state Highway 128 in both directions and prompting mandatory evacuations near the Napa and Sonoma County line. The road reopened at about 3 p.m. and the evacuations were lifted a short time later.
The crash was first reported at about 10:30 a.m. about 100 yards from Foss Hill Road on SR-128, creating a hazardous materials incident, according to the CHP.
A sig-alert was issued for the closure of SR-128 between Spencer Lane and Traverso Road, and evacuations were ordered for everyone within a mile radius of 18880 Highway 128 — including those on Foss Hill Road — according to the California Highway Patrol and Sonoma and Napa county sheriff's offices.

But just before 3 p.m., the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office reported the evacuations were lifted, the propane tanker uprighted and the area deemed safe.
The Napa County Sheriff's Office at 3:27 p.m. also said evacuation orders for the 3500-3800 block of SR-128 were lifted.

About four hours earlier, public safety personnel with the Geyserville and Cloverdale fire protection districts and the Sonoma and Napa county sheriff's offices called for immediate evacuations.
"Everyone ... must evacuate now," the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said in a Nixle alert sent at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday. "There is an overturned propane tanker at this address. The roads are closed within at least 1 mile of this address. People on the east side of the tanker can evacuate to the Calistoga Fairgrounds, Butler Building, located at North Oak and Grant Streets."
In Napa County, evacuations were ordered for residents from the 3500 block to the 3800 block of SR-128 at the county line, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said in a Nixle alert sent at 11:25 a.m.
