Rancho Viejo Takes it For Best Mexican Food

The Yukatan spot serves Mexican fare with organic, lard-free, ingredients

 

We asked, you responded – naming o the best spot satisfying a Mexican food craving in Sonoma.

But Rancho Viejo doesn't just serve up your average tacos and Mission-style burritos: the family-owned spot serves up authentic Yukatan food. Run by husband and wife team Antonio and Jenny Barrios, the cute cottage-like spot uses organic and natural ingredients. Vegetarians rejoice – the team eschews lard for olive oil for frying and grilling. The team prides themselves on their natural approach to food and were honored by Cittaslow.

But locals are passionate about Mexican food – so much so that there were several write-in campaigns for crowd pleasing favorites including La Bamba, La Hacienda and El Molino Central.

La Hacienda in particular recruited some passionate fans, who chastised us for omitting the Springs spot.
