SFO Arrival and Departure Delays, Cancellations for Sunday

High winds, rain and low clouds have reduced arrivals at San Francisco Airport to less than half the usual today.

Winds gusting up to 47 mph, rain and low cloud have meant both cancellations and delays at San Francisco Airport (SFO) today.

SFO normally sees 60 daily arrivals. Today, that number has been reduced by the Federal Aviation Administration to 25, Airport Duty Manager Shannon Wilson told Patch.

There had been nine departure cancellations and 16 arrival cancellations as of 11:30 a.m., Wilson said. There were delays of up to 60 minutes for some other flights, he said.

"The winds are coming from the south, which is not the best. Usually they're from the west," he said.

People coming to collect travelers should park in the San Bruno Avenue cell phone parking lot, which is a safe and free place to wait, Wilson said. They should also check with the airlines before coming to the airport.
