Sheryl Crow, Gipsy Kings to Head Jazz Plus Lineup

Not very much jazz and a whole lot of "plus" for the national music festival.

Plans are underway for Sonoma Jazz Plus, with a big-time lineup.

The star filled roster is big on red carpet style--though fairly low on jazz.

Here's a rundown of the headliners:

John Fogerty, Friday, May 20

East Bay native John Fogerty didn't stop crooning his signature rootsy percussive guitar with the end Creedence Clearwater Revival. The soulful crooner produced hit solo albums in the 80s and 90s.

Sheryl Crow, Saturday, May 21

The eponymous country crossover star, Sheryl Crow's played for amphitheater and soundtracks. Her latest album, "100 Miles to Memphis," is a tribute to old school soul.

Gipsy Kings, Sunday, May 22

The princes of fusion music, the Gipsy Kings have coined their own brand of poppy  flamenco styled numbers. The family oriented crew (the band's made up of a set of brothers and cousins) hails from Arles and Montepellier, France. Their peppy cant-help-but-dance tunes have international appeal.

The most popular events of Sonoma Jazz Plus are scheduled to stay. The Wine & Song series will transform the arena into a large-scale New Orleans brunch with mellow brass and food from the bayou.

The Gist: General tickets on sale Feb. 15, $60 - $100.  Sonoma residents can buy advance tickets beginning at 9 a.m. Feb. 14 online or by calling  888-512-SHOW (7469)--use the code "sweet."

Sonoma Patch sincerely regrets: We incorrectly stated a headlining band as "Gypsy Kings." The band spells their name "Gipsy Kings."
