SoCal 'Pokeman Go' Game Players May Have Uncovered Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested In Sonoma

Two men playing 'Pokeman Go' in southern California may have aided authorities in grabbing a Sonoma suspect wanted for attempted murder.

SONOMA - Two former Marines playing the new 'Pokeman Go' game in southern California may have inadvertently aided authorities in grabbing a suspect arrested in Sonoma County for attempted murder on a warrant issued in Monterey County.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Javier Soch and Seth Ortega on Tuesday went to Fullerton's downtown to play the new Pokemon smartphone game.

But rather than immersing themselves in fantasy, the two found themselves dealing with an immediate reality as they observed a man bothering children at a local playground.

Ortega told the Times the man "appeared odd, wearing a mismatched outfit with an oversized jacket and a baseball cap. He held an artificial rose in his hand."

Fullerton Police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel told Patch the man was initially arrested on suspicion of child annoyance, but it was later learned that 39-year-old Jacob Kells was arrested in Sonoma County on a Monterey County warrant for his arrest on attempted murder charges.
