Larry Hunter, 48, and Monica Miller, 30 were caught when they drove their stolen car up to a property where police were engaged in a probation search

Two Sonoma residents were caught driving a stolen truck when they drove up to a Santa Rosa home while the officers conducted a probation search – a classic case of wrong place, wrong time.

On Thursday the detectives from the Sonoma County Auto Theft Task Force and CHP officers were conducting a probation search at 3367 Petaluma Hill Rd., in Santa Rosa.

While officers conducted their search, Larry Hunter, a 48-year-old Sonoma resident, along with passenger Monica Miller, 30, drove up to the property in a red Chevy Colorado truck, saw the officers and turned around to flee the property.

Detectives recognized the truck as a vehicle stolen from Standard Structures in Windsor two weeks earlier and followed the pair.
