Voter Registration Deadline Approaching For March 2, 2021, Special Election In West County

To be eligible to register to vote, one must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on or before Election Day.

Santa Rosa, CA – February 11, 2021 – Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters, reminds residents of the West Sonoma County Union High School District and/or the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District that the regular deadline to register to vote in the upcoming March 2, 2021, Special Election is Feb. 16 at midnight.

To be eligible to register to vote, one must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on or before Election Day, and not in prison for the conviction of a felony. Voters who have recently moved or changed their name should re-register. Residents who miss the deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register and vote in person; please contact the Registrar of Voters Office for further details.

Eligible voters can register online at https://registertovote.ca.gov. In addition, postage-paid paper forms are available at many public and government offices including city halls, post offices, and the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office. Completed forms returned by mail must be postmarked by Feb. 16 or earlier; forms may also be hand-delivered to the Registrar of Voters Office 24/7 drive-thru drop box.

For more information about voter registration or other election matters, call (707) 565-6800, email rov-info@sonoma-county.org, or visit the Registrar of Voters Office in person at 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays (February 12 -- Lincoln’s Birthday; February 15 -- Presidents Day). If residents visit the office they should plan to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
