Community Corner

Fairfield PAL Teen Center shares its January 2021 Calendar.

Only the building is closed.

The PAL Teen Center is currently closed due to COVID-19, but is supporting members through virtual programs and a food pantry. Thanks to a generous grant from the Solano Community Foundation, PAL has been hosting a variety of programs online since June.

It’s a new year, a new month, and there is a new PAL activity calendar. PAL members are invited to join us for a full month of online activities in January. Members can log on just for fun and play bingo, Connect Four, Uno, cards games, or see if they can Name That Tune in our Instagram Live gameshow experience. They can also participate in a month-long experiment to learn about the connection between exercise and happiness, prepare for life after high school at our weekly Fairfield Suisun Rotary Ready to Succeed program, earn a stipend while building their career ladder at our Career Café or connect with our newest Girls Circle; supported by the Soroptimist International of Central Solano County.

Together with Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, Fairfield PAL invites ANY local student to make an appointment to pick up FREE pantry items to take home in January, as well. Available items include mac & cheese, cereals, peanut butter, ravioli, soups, canned fruit and more! A PAL membership is not required—but students must be enrolled in school to pick up a box. The Fairfield PAL Program is open to Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis students ages 13-18 who are enrolled in school. Memberships are FREE and can be applied for at the Fairfield Community Center by calling 707 428-7435. PAL Center is currently closed due to COVID-19, but is supporting members through virtual programs and a food pantry with the Solano County Food Bank.

PAL uses traditional recreational programming to create an environment that draws young people to support the development of the social and emotional skills required to promote a positive self-identity and become productive and engaged members of our community. By offering teens programs they are interested in and choices, it becomes possible to slip in pro social skill building and development utilizing youth development practices and techniques.
