Suisun Man Shot, Killed In Suspected Home Invasion: Fairfield PD
"The homeowner fired two shots at the suspect, who fled the home and collapsed across the street."
FAIRFIELD, CA — A homeowner shot and killed a man Tuesday morning who barged into his Fairfield home, police and city officials said.
The homeowners, described as a married couple in their 60s, were having breakfast around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when they heard a knock on the door of their residence in the 600 block of Vintage Valley Drive, then the sound of someone trying to kick down their door, officials said.
The homeowner could see the intruder on his Ring camera and, fearing for his and his wife's safety, he armed himself with his legally owned .357 Magnum, Fairfield City Councilmember Catherine Moy said in a Facebook post.

When no one answered the door, the suspect reportedly kicked the door open and made entry into the home.
"The door to the home was kicked completely off of the hinges," Moy said. "The homeowner fired two shots at the suspect, who fled the home and collapsed across the street."

The homeowner called 911 and told dispatchers he shot someone who broke into his home.
Officers found the suspect, who had a loaded semiautomatic handgun with an extended magazine, across the street and tried life-saving measures, Fairfield police Lt. Jausiah Jacobsen said.
Paramedics with the Fairfield Fire Department took over but the suspect had been shot in the chest and was pronounced dead shortly after 9 a.m., officials said.
The suspect, a 27-year-old man from Suisun City, was on parole for a violent crime out of Alameda County, Jacobsen said.
Police did not disclose the man's name and did not release further information because other aspects were still being looked into.
"The Fairfield Police Department has a victim advocate on staff who will be reaching out to the victims in the case to offer any assistance we can," Jacobsen said.
Police asked anyone with information about the home invasion to call Fairfield PD's Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.
