Roller skates are provided for free by the Matt Garcia Foundation. A PAL membership is required to participate.

"Studies have shown that roller skating provides a complete aerobic workout and involves all of the body's muscles, especially the heart," the Fairfield Police Dept. said in a statement. "Roller skating is equivalent to jogging in terms of health benefits-caloric consumption, reduction of body fat, and leg strength development."

This Turkey Trot-themed skate night will include commemorative t-shirts for the first 50 students to skate the equivalent of a 5k.
