Fairfield School Awarded $1,000 Education Grant

A Fairfield-Suisun school is one of dozens in the Bay Area that will be able to fund new educational programs thanks to a grant.

FAIRFIELD, CA — A Fairfield school is one of dozens in the Bay Area awarded a combined $100,000 in grants to fund programs ranging from musical instruments to Korean language classes to Chromebook laptops for students to use in classrooms.

Golden West Middle School in Fairfield will use its $1,000 grant to purchase school sports equipment and pay for transportation costs.

The grants, presented on Dec. 12 to students and teachers, were given out as part of the Wells Fargo KNBR Step Up to the Plate program, which has granted more than $1.3 million over the last 18 years.
