Coroner Identifies Passenger Killed In I-680 Crash In Fairfield

Three cars were involved in the fatal collision at the Gold Hill Road freeway off-ramp.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The Solano County coroner's office has identified a passenger who died in a three-vehicle collision in Fairfield Wednesday evening as Jerrol Dodd, 26, of Reagan, Tennessee.

Dodd was a passenger in a BMW SUV driven by a Scranton, Pennsylvania woman that was stopped on the shoulder of the off-ramp of northbound Interstate Highway 680 around 6:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The BMW driver tried to cross the off-ramp lane and was broadsided by a Honda CR-V driven by a Fairfield woman. The impact overturned the BMW and a Dodge Ram truck then struck the BMW and Honda, CHP officials said. Dodd was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BMW driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the North Bay Medical Center in Fairfield, and the Honda driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. The Dodge driver was not injured.

The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors in the collision.
