Father Dies, Son Survives Crash Into Canal In Solano County: CHP
The father, a Fairfield man, was pulled from the car but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A Toyota Corolla crashed through a chain-link fence into six feet of water in an irrigation canal east of Fairfield Monday afternoon killing a father but sparing his son, the California Highway Patrol said.
The two men were traveling home from work on Ledgewood Road near Mankas Corner Road around 2 p.m. when the Toyota went through the fence and into the cement canal in unincorporated Solano County, CHP Officer Miguel Camarena said.
The father, later identified as Fairfield resident Eusebio Praxedis-Reyes, 50, was pulled from the vehicle but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, Camarena said.

The 27-year-old son, also a Fairfield resident, was driving the car at the time of the crash, Camearena said.
The Solano County Sheriff's Office's dive team, the Solano County coroner's office and a chaplain responded to the fatal crash. Camarena said the men's family members also arrived at the scene.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, Camarena said.
