Flood Watch: Atmospheric River Heads For NorCal
The watch out of NWS Sacramento is for central and southern Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and northern San Joaquin Valley.
SOLANO and YOLO COUNTIES, CA — Parts of Solano County and Yolo County are under a flood watch as another incoming atmospheric river is expected to likely drench the region with more rainfall, according to the National Weather Service.
The flood watch takes effect Monday evening and continues through Thursday morning for the the central and southern Sacramento Valley areas, the Carquinez Strait and Delta and the northern San Joaquin Valley, according to National Weather Service's Sacramento office.
"Persistent moderate to heavy rain may lead to flooding over the area," NWS forecasters said. "Two to six inches of rain is expected in the valley. Local higher amounts will be possible. This could cause ponding of water on roadways and cause rises on area creeks and streams.

NWS Sacramento's flood watch area includes the cities of Fairfield and Suisun, Chico, Oroville, Marysville/Yuba City, Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto.
"You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings," NWS stated. "Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop."

A wind advisory is also in effect for much of the region until noon Wednesday.
Winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are forecast, with impacts being tree branches down, possible power outages and difficult driving conditions.
The Sacramento NWS wind advisory is for the northern, central and southern Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and Northern San Joaquin Valley, as well as the northeast foothills of the Sacramento Valley and the mountains of southwestern Shasta County to northern Lake County and Clear Lake in Southern Lake County.
The San Francisco Bay Area NWS Office issued similar alerts Monday for the North Bay counties of Marin, Sonoma and Napa.
