FAIRFIELD, CA — Human remains found Saturday in Fairfield were that of a Hercules man who went missing nearly three years ago, the Fairfield Police Department said.
The remains were found with clothing in a field near Cement Hill Road and Peabody Road, and were turned over to the Solano County Coroner's Office, police said Saturday.
In a follow-up statement Monday, Fairfield police said the remains were identified as Zachery Lukas Rose, who would have turned 31 in March.

"Our thoughts are with his family, and we hope while there are still many unanswered questions, the discovery of his body brings some closure," police said.
Rose was last seen around 10 p.m. Feb. 4, 2018, at a friend's house in the 2400 block of Shorey Way. He reportedly stepped outside to have a cigarette but never came back inside.

Rose left his cell phone, wallet, car and car keys in the residence.
The friend he was staying with reported him missing the next day.
At the time of his disappearance, police said there was no indication he was involved in an argument.
Friends and co-workers told police it was "very out of character" for him not to make contact with anyone.
Rose's remains were found Monday about a mile from where he was last seen.
Police said Monday no further details would be provided at this time, as the investigation was ongoing.
Police asked anyone with information about Rose's disappearance and death to call the Fairfield Police Department’s Investigations Bureau at 707-428-7600.
