Kenny Lofton to play at local golf tourney

Rotary Club tournament attracts legendary baseball star

Fairfield Suisun Rotary President Kelly Rhoads-Poston today announced that former six-time Major League Baseball center-fielder Kenny Lofton will be playing in the 46th Annual Rotary Charity Tournament on August 12, 2019 at Green Valley Country Club.

“We are so excited to have a player of his stature coming out to support our Rotary Club,” said President Rhoads-Poston.

She also noted that Lofton is the second major sports star to sign up to play in the local tournament. The first was two-time Super Bowl Champion and defensive captain of the 1984 San Francisco 49ers Dwight Hicks.

Lofton was a six-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove Award winner, and at retirement, was ranked fifteenth among all-time stolen base leaders with 622. He is also a four-time Golden Glove recipient. During his career, he played for the Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Texas Rangers.

The format for the tournament will be a Four Man Scramble. The entry fee includes prizes, lunch, dinner, cart and green fees, free raffle, sports memorabilia silent auction, and much more.
