Making the world a much better place
Hosting a student creates beautiful bridges between our countries and cultures.
Meet Hiba, from Jordan: I was a YES scholarship exchange student in 2014-15. My exchange year was definitely the best experience I've ever had and it definitely changed so many things in my life. It was an eye opening experience since I was only a 15-year-old kid. My exchange year wouldn't have been as awesome as it was without my awesome host family who welcomed me into their home and filled me with their infinite love and support. They accepted me, the Muslim kid from the Middle East, and by doing so they absolutely made a huge impact on me because sadly these days with all the wrong things that come from the media people start to have second thoughts about hosting an exchange student who is Muslim.

Also, some may think that it will be hard to deal with the student not eating pork or needing a place to pray or driving us to a mosque 5 times a day or having to get their dogs out of the house. But it is definitely not like this at all. We can simply eat anything aside from pork so it wouldn't be a problem. We can live in a house that has a dog as long as we have a room where we can pray without the dog.
Lastly, I want to mention how great it is to host a student from a whole different culture whether they are Muslims or not. Hosting a student creates beautiful bridges between our countries and cultures. It gives you the chance to have a new family on the other side of the world and after you host a student you overcome all of the stereotypes and all the false ideas about Muslims or different cultures. You get the chance to share it with the people around you and by that, you definitely make the world a much better place that's full of love and understanding.
