Nelson Fire: Evacuations Lifted As Fairfield Fire Burns

The 1,000-acre blaze erupted Friday between Vacaville and Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CA -- Evacuations were lifted Saturday as firefighters continued to fight a blaze between Fairfield and Vacaville. The fire, which ignited about 4:30 p.m. near Nelson and Lagoon Valley roads, burned 1,000 acres and was 70 percent contained as of Saturday morning, according to Cal Fire.

At least one home was burned in the blaze, officials said.

Residents were evacuated from areas including Constitution Avenue, Paradise Valley Estates Drive and Couples Circle north of Paradise Valley Golf Course, but the order was lifted late Friday night, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

Police said residents may still be experiencing power outages in the area and PG&E crews have responded and are working to restore power.

Peabody Road is closed in both directions at Chuck Hammond Drive due to several downed power lines in the area.
