False Alarm: No 'Real World Security Incident' As Travis Air Force Base Drill Under Way, Officials Say

Breaking: A "real world security incident," possibly involving an active shooter, was a false alarm, base officials now say.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A "real world security incident" reported at the Travis Air Force Base on the afternoon that a "real world" security drill had been scheduled has turned out to be a false alarm, Travis Air Force officials said.

"Travis Air Force Base emergency personnel responded to reports of gun shots at the Base Exchange," according to an official base statement. "However, it was determined to be a false alarm. The base is no longer under lockdown. We take every security incident seriously."

Earlier, civilian Bobbi Textor said she was one of at least a half-dozen people who are answering the flood of phone calls to the base about the ironic turn of events.

Travis Air Force Base did not immediately disclose the nature of the suspected real world event.

CBS Sacramento reported that someone on base told the news station there was an active shooter situation near the shopping center of the base.

The public was asked to stay away from the base so emergency responders can respond accordingly.

Fairfield police said the main gate at the base was closed.

The simulated real word security drill was scheduled to take place today and Thursday.
