Solano Community College Named Academic Top 25
The school earned a spot on Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.

From Solano Community College: Solano Community College (SCC) has continued its tradition of student success on and off the court, earning the 17th spot on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
“I’m proud of our team,” said Head Coach Matt Borchert whose team averages a 3.063 grade point average. “Solano’s women’s basketball team has rallied together to bring eight Bay Valley Conference Championships to our school. Being recognized for their academic achievements in addition to their on-the-court victories is important as our players think beyond their time at Solano and look toward their future careers.”
For the past 23 years, the WBCA has compiled the honor roll to recognize NCAA Division 1, II and II, NAIA and two-year schools whose student-athletes have shown success in the classroom. GPAs are calculated by dividing the number of quality points (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0) earned by the total number of academic hours attempted by all team members throughout the season.

“The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women’s basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. “The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts.”
Placement on the list is another notch in Borchert’s belt. As the winningest coach in SCC’s program history, Borchert has led the Falcons to Bay Valley Conference Championships in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2017, and is a four-time recipient of the Bay Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
