Solano Safe Routes To School Poster Contest Begins
Solano Transportation Authority invites all K-12 students in the county to submit an entry.

From SR2S: The Solano Safe Routes to School (SR2S) program invites all K-12 grade students in Solano County to design and submit a poster incorporating a safety message for their fellow students that walk and bike to school. Students are asked to choose one of the five SR2S provided safety tips and then design a poster to encourage bicycle and pedestrian safety.
“This is a great opportunity for students to encourage each other to walk and bike to school safely,” STA Board Chair and City of Fairfield Mayor Harry Price said. “Today’s technology has increased distracted walking and driving, and we need to remind our youth about getting to school and around town safely, whether on foot or on a bike.”
First, Second, and Third place winning artwork will be chosen for each of the following grade categories: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. New for 2019, grades 9-12 may choose to submit digital artwork or hand drawn art. The First, Second, and Third place artwork in each category will be printed in a 2020 SR2S Calendar focusing on bike and pedestrian safety, and the First Place winner in each category will receive a gift certificate to a local bike shop. Teachers whose classrooms participate in the contest will be entered into a raffle for a $100 Amazon Gift Card.
