Sorority seeks applicants for virtual high school graduation
17th annual event recognizes African American Class of 2020 under COVID-19 restrictions

Vallejo, CA | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Beta Omega Chapter is pleased to announce that applications are now available for the 2020 African American Graduation Recognition Celebration which will be presented as a virtual program. Interested high school seniors should contact their school counselor to obtain an application for participation instructions, or go to www.kappabetaomegaaka1974.com to apply online. All applications are due by Wednesday, May 13.
This is the 17th year that the chapter has sponsored the event will be livestreamed by the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Media Department on Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m.
The annual program supports Alpha Kappa Alpha’s focus on education with an emphasis on historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

“This program has a significant impact on our students so as we comply with the COVID-19 safety guidelines, we’re excited to use the latest technology to celebrate the Class of 2020 for their academic accomplishments through this memorable event,” said Chapter President Sandra D. Stowes.
The program is organized by the chapter’s Education Committee chaired by Stephanie Bowens and Hazel Wilson. The celebration typically recognizes more than 100 students from area high schools.
