Pastor Isom began serving at St. Stephen in August 2007. Since that time, Rev. Isom and Mrs. Stephanie J. Isom have placed an emphasis on the Children, Youth and Young Adult Ministries. The music ministry has also been a focus for growth which includes the Youth and Young Adult Choir; Senior Choir; Missionary Mass Choir; Male Chorus, and Mass Choir. Other ministries embody a focus on serving the community, including Christian Youth Fellowship, Cub Scouts, Seniors Ministry, Ministry to Men, and the “Feed My Sheep” Outreach Ministry which distributes food twice per month to an average of 150 families in addition to hundreds of Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets each year. On March 17, 1969, the First CME Church of Fairfield was formally organized by Presiding Elder Wellington Smith and founded by Reverend Davis. The church was later renamed St. Stephen and moved to its current location at 2301 Union Avenue in 1975. A newly constructed sanctuary was completed in 2003 at which time the former sanctuary was transformed into a Fellowship Hall and later named for the church’s founder.
