Unlicensed Contractors From Fairfield, Vallejo Caught In Napa Sting
Thirteen construction workers were busted for offering services without proper licensing. [Breaking].

NAPA COUNTY, CA – The Contractors State License Board caught 13 contractors offering to perform construction services without a state license in the Napa area in late August.
The sting operation by the Board's Investigative Fraud Team took place from Aug. 30 to Aug. 31 at a single-family home off state Highway 29 in north Napa.
Investigators reviewed ads from suspected unlicensed contractors on Craigslist and from business cards, the CSLB said in a news release.

The investigators then posed as homeowners and solicited work that included deck installation, painting, landscaping, concrete and tile projects.
Contractors who responded at the sting house gave estimates as high as $8,000 for a deck. Anyone who performs construction work exceeding $500 or more in materials and, or labor must have a state contractor's
license the CSLB said.

The 13 contractors who responded over the two-day period were cited for contracting without a state license, and six received citations for illegal advertising and failing to state they were not licensed.
The first-conviction misdemeanor citations are punishable by up to six months in jail and, or up to $5,000 in fines.
The unlicensed contractors caught in the sting were from Napa, Vallejo, Fairfield, Clearlake, Gilroy and Richmond.
