22-Year-Old Arrested for DUI and Vehicular Manslaughter

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night in a hit and run on Rancho California Road in Temecula.

A motorcyclist died Monday of injuries suffered in a hit- and-run collision involving an allegedly drunk driver, who was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Alexander Fiala, 24, of Temecula died Monday morning at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he was taken following the Sunday night crash in the 31800 block of Rancho California Road.

Benjamin Felipe Liano, 22, of Temecula crashed his vehicle while allegedly trying to flee. Deputies arrived moments later and arrested the suspect, who was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and- run resulting in great bodily injury and driving under the influence.

Fiala survived roughly four hours before succumbing to his injuries.

Court records show no prior convictions for Liano in Riverside County. He’s being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
