3 Hurt, 2 Critically, In Collision At Winchester Intersection

WINCHESTER, CA ? Three people were injured Thursday, two seriously, in a collision between an SUV and a sedan at a Winchester intersection.

The crash was reported at 1:25 p.m. Thursday at Winchester and Holland roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency stated the vehicles were impacted at undetermined speeds, possibly after one of the drivers plowed through a red light. The sedan careened into a light pole, trapping the two occupants.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location minutes later and initiated a cut-and-rescue operation that freed the victims, who suffered life-threatening injuries.

Both were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment, along with the occupant of the SUV, whose injuries were reportedly minor to moderate.

The intersection was shut down for an hour while the wreckage was cleared and CHP officers conducted a preliminary investigation.
