Anza Man ID'd As Dirt-Bike Crash Victim

The rider was pronounced dead outside the Temecula Valley Hospital.

AGUANGA, CA ? A 21-year-old Anza off-road enthusiast died Saturday after striking a boulder with his dirt bike on an Aguaga road, California Highway Patrol officers said. The single-rider crash remains under investigation, according to investigators.

Jose Medina was identified Tuesday as the victim who died during transport to Temecula Valley Hospital, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau.

According to the California Highway Patrol reports, Medina was riding on Diaz Way, near Jojoba Road, when the crash occurred. "He was heading in an unknown direction when he apparently lost control and slammed into the big rock," investigators said.

Witnesses came to his aid and administered CPR until Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived and took over the resuscitative effort.

Medina was transported to Temecula Valley Hospital, but he was pronounced dead inside the ambulance, according to the coroner's office.

CHP investigators are awaiting autopsy results. It was not immediately known whether alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the crash.
