For Best Documentary, The Oscar Goes To Rail Ranch Elementary

No, the school didn't win an Academy Award, but this short video might best document the COVID-19 campus experience for young students.

MURRIETA, CA — The staff at Rail Ranch Elementary wanted to make sure students felt comfortable when they returned to class Tuesday after missing a year of in-person instruction amid COVID-19.

To help ease the kids into their newly modified classrooms (virus-prevention features like plexiglass dividers and hand sanitizer everywhere), the school staff put together a light and fun "Beauty and the Beast" musical parody. The video welcomes Rail Ranch students as they begin classroom instruction under a first-ever hybrid learning model.

It's not Oscar-worthy, but this short video is a gem — and is a must for future generations who will learn about COVID-19 in history class.
