TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula Area CHP is investigating a wreck in which a motorist crashed completely off Interstate 15 and landed in a nearby parking area.

The crash happened along the southbound side of Interstate 15, just south of Winchester Road, at around 1:40 p.m.

CHP Officer Mike Lassig says a Moreno Valley man “made an unsafe turning movement” while in the slow lane in a 2002 Honda Accord.

The motorist then crashed into a chain link fence and a large rock — causing the sedan “to catapult upward where the rear end collided into a metal carport awning” at a parking lot for an office building off Jefferson Avenue.

The car landed on its side.
