Cinco de Mayo Meets Kentucky Derby: Temecula Celebrates

Every TV in the Pechanga Poker Room’s Off Track Betting room and many at the Pechanga Round Bar will be tuned to the Derby, plus all its pre and post action on May 5. Inside OTB and the Poker Room, guests can wager on the outcomes and get their choice of Chicken Adobo with White Rice or Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy for $10.95 as a race day special. Guests may also enjoy specials on the official Kentucky Derby drink – mint juleps – at Pechanga OTB and the Round Bar.

A brand new, interactive video machine featuring horse races, the Fortune Cup by Konami Gaming, has also been popular on the casino floor since installation in early March. Fortune Cup T-shirts and hats will be available free to guests who play the game on May 5 while supplies last.

The Cinco de Mayo fun at Pechanga focuses on mariachis, Modelos and margaritas. Get into the south of the border spirit with the Mariachi del Mar band starting at 4 p.m. at the Pechanga Casino entrance. The mariachi performances are free to watch. Guests will see these acclaimed musicians at various locations across the resort after that including the hotel lobby, north entrance and the motorcoach entrance near Kelsey’s restaurant.

Meet the Modelo beer promo girls at the Round Bar May 5 starting at 8:30 p.m. The Jim Beam promo girls will be talking Mint Juleps starting at 2:30 p.m. in the Round Bar that day. Guests can also try a unique Margarita at Umi Sushi & Oyster Bar for only $5 during the restaurant’s Saturday, May 5 happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Spicy Mango Margarita mixes Patron Silver tequila, Cointreau, mango puree and fresh jalapeño pepper together on the rocks in a tajín and salt rimmed glass.
