Coroner IDs Man Shot, Killed in Lake Elsinore Break-In
Sheriff's officials say a homeowner fatally shot the man as he was allegedly trying to break into his house.

A burglary suspect shot dead by a Lake Elsinore homeowner was identified Wednesday as a local man.
Nolan Yerigan, 31, died Monday from wounds suffered when he allegedly attempted to break into a house in the 100 block of Torn Ranch Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Mike Manning said a woman at the property called 911 around 10:45 p.m. Sunday to report that an intruder was trying to force his way into the residence.

The woman said her husband had armed himself with a handgun and advised the intruder that he would shoot him if he tried to access the interior of the home.
“The suspect ignored the warning, broke a window and continued to force his way into their residence, where he was shot by the homeowner,” Manning said.

Deputies arrived moments later. Yerigan was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died around 8:30 the following morning.
Manning said there is “no known connection” between the victims and suspect.
“The sheriff’s department is not seeking charges against the homeowner at this time,” the sergeant said.
