Details Released On Fatal I-15 Crash In Temecula: CHP
The solo-vehicle wreck was reported on the northbound side of the freeway, and none of the victims involved were wearing safety belts.

TEMECULA, CA — A solo-car crash Friday morning on Interstate 15 Friday in Temecula killed one person and seriously injured two others — and none of them were wearing seat belts, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck was reported at 7:14 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, just north of Rainbow Valley Boulevard.
A 29-year-old Upland man was driving a 1993 Honda Civic northbound at approximately 70 mph when he approached a freeway construction zone. For unknown reasons, he made an unsafe turning movement that caused him to lose control of the car, according to a CHP preliminary report.

The Honda went toward the center divider, up a dirt embankment, rolled over and landed on its roof in the center median, the CHP reported.
During the rollover, a 28-year-old Ontario woman, who was in the front passenger seat, was partially ejected from the car. She died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The driver and another passenger, a 45-year-old Ontario woman, were seriously injured in the crash. Both were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center; an update on their current conditions was unknown.
Freeway lanes were closed while the CHP conducted its investigation.
The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of next of kin.
CHP Officer Mike Lassig, who released the preliminary crash report, urged all motorists to obey California's seat belt law, which states that the safety restraints "contribute to reducing highway deaths and injuries."
