TEMECULA VALLEY, CA — Firefighters are working to contain a fire on Tuesday afternoon that broke out east of town. The blaze was first reported off SR-79 around 10:30 a.m.

The first-arriving firefighters reported finding approximately five acres of "light flashy" brush on fire in the area of Sage Road and Highway 79. It soon grew to an estimated 10 acres, but the Riverside County Fire Department said crews stopped the forward rate of spread of the blaze at that point.

More than 100 firefighters were assigned to the so-called Sage incident, along with two air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter.
