TEMECULA, CA — The Temecula Valley will take center stage on Wednesday in the world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade, as the Horsewomen of Temecula Wine Country take a ride down Colorado Boulevard as an equestrian entry, city officials announced. Perhaps the most notable among them will be a 90-year-old former trick and stunt rider from Temecula.
Pat North Ommert performed as a stunt girl and stunt double for movies, having worked on the 1954 version of 'A Star Is Born.' The trick rider's other credits include some 56 performances in Wild West-themed shows at Madison Square Garden and Boston Garden.

Ommert will be joined on Wednesday by some other local leading ladies, including three-time Temecula Mayor — who will serve as the city's 2020 mayor pro tem — Maryann Edwards. Temecula Police Chief Lisa McConnell, Temecula California Highway Patrol Captain Karyn Mentink, and CAL FIRE Assistant Region Chief Nancy Koerperich are among the others riding in the parade, along with winery owners Rosie Wilson and Libby Wilson Johns, local country western musician and trick roper Judy Taylor, and Fire Chief Jodie Gray.
"Since Temecula’s earliest settlements, women have played a key role in establishing, molding and shaping Temecula to get us to this point," Edwards said. "The Horsewomen have worked tirelessly for this honor and we thank them for their Temecula spirit and can-do style!"

Accompanying the Horsewomen is the award-winning Temecula Cowgirl Color Guard Team, along with Temecula Carriage Company’s professionally driven horse drawn wagon, the city said.
"Our wagon train of successful female community leaders is proof that in Riverside County's Temecula, the power of hope, hard work and ambition can lead to realized dreams for everyone," said Juanita Koth, Horsewomen of Temecula parade team captain. "We strive to encourage the next generation to follow our leaders by one day taking over the reins of community stewardship."
The Rose Parade begins at 8 a.m. PST Wednesday.
