I-15 Lane Closures Continue This Week Near Temecula

TEMECULA, CA — For another week, lanes on both sides of Interstate 15 south of Temecula will be shut down for four consecutive nights, beginning Monday evening, as crews continue a $30 million pavement replacement project on the artery, according to Caltrans.

The agency also advised that periodic work will also be conducted during daylight hours, requiring the fast lane to be shut down between Monday and Friday.

The nighttime work is scheduled between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. between the Rainbow Valley turnout to Highway 79. One lane will be available for travel at all times, according to Caltrans.

The I-15 Pavement Rehabilitation Project got underway last month and entails replacing the No. 3 and 4 lanes on the north- and southbound sides of the freeway, between the San Diego County line and the Temecula River Bridge.

Last week, crews began excavating in the project zone, and this week, they will be removing the old metal beam guardrails in the median, over a stretch of the interstate where two lanes will be taken out of service on both sides.

Security Paving Inc. is the contractor responsible for the project and is replacing concrete panels along the corridor that are gradually deteriorating, according to Caltrans.

The project is slated to run until mid-2022.
