Medical Emergency Likely Triggered Fatal Anza Crash: CHP
The grim discovery was made Sunday in a stormwater channel off Anza Road, approximately 288 feet south of state Route 371.

ANZA, CA ? A 72-year-old man who was pronounced dead over the weekend in Anza after crashing his pickup truck likely suffered a medical emergency that triggered the wreck, according to a preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Michael Davies of Anza was found by a CHP officer just before 4 p.m. Sunday in a stormwater channel off Anza Road, approximately 288 feet south of state Route 371, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.
The officer was responding to a call about a crash in the area.

"Upon initial investigation, our officer determined this to be a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a 1995 Toyota T-100," according to CHP Officer Jonathan Torres.
The driver, Davies, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the coroner and Torres.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that this crash happened as a result of an unknown medical emergency, however, it is pending further investigation at this time," Torres reported. "Currently alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash."
No other injuries were reported.
