Mid-Autumn festival at Temecula Chinese School
Shortly after the start of the new school year, the Temecula Chinese School held its annual Mid-Autumn Festival. In order to enable children to better understand traditional Chinese culture and its connotation, the school specially organized the theme of “Mid-Autumn Festival”. In class, the teachers explained to the students the culture, origin and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival, purposed to let these children who have grown up here to embrace the long-standing traditional festivals of Chinese culture.
Some classes watched cartoons and learned the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as the significance of mooncakes. Some classes were told classic myths that explained this holiday, sparking the students' interests in learning Chinese.
During recess time, the school also prepared traditional mooncakes of various flavors for the children to share. What a jubilant day it was! The children not only increased their knowledge of the Mid-Autumn Festival, but also tasted customary Mid-Autumn Festival food. Every child gained a deeper understanding of the meaning of Mid-Autumn Festival in China.
