Residents Sought For RivCo Aging Council, Citrus Pest District

TEMECULA, CA — Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington is seeking community members to fill two positions — one for a Third District representative on the Riverside County Advisory Council on Aging, and the other for a vacant seat on Citrus Pest Control District No. 3.
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, and live or work within RivCo's Third District for the Aging Advisory Council slot. And for the pest-control position, the person must own, within District No. 3, property devoted, in whole or part, to growth of citrus products.
Responsibilities for the Advisory Council on Aging include evaluating such matters affecting older and disabled persons countywide as health, education, employment, housing, transportation and recreation. Members serve a three-year term as advisors, making recommendations to the Riverside County Office on Aging and board of supervisors.

Meetings are the second Wednesdays of each month at various RivCo locations, although currently, meetings are virtual due to the pandemic. Members may be reimbursed for mileage and other expenses and must adhere to the Ralph M. Brown Act.

Supervisor Washington also is looking to fill a vacant seat on Citrus Pest Control District No. 3, a board that develops strategies to control, eradicate and respond to the Asian Citrus Psyllid population, which can infect citrus plants with agricultural disease Huanglongbing. The board then makes recommendations to RivCo supervisors.
As part of their four-year term, members attend meetings on the second Wednesdays of the month at Lake Hemet Municipal Water District, 26385 Fairview Ave., although meetings now are held virtually. Reimbursement may be for approved, actual and necessary expenses, and members must adhere to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
