Temecula Brewers Snag Big Wins During International Competition

TEMECULA, CA — Garage Brewing Co doesn't have a long history, and lately the business has been challenged amid the ongoing coronavirus health restrictions, but that hasn't stopped the Temecula brewer from forging ahead — and winning.

On October 9, Garage Brewing Co took home three medals from the 2020 San Diego International Beer Competition: a silver medal in the “American Wheat Ale" category for its American Hefeweizen; a silver medal in “Wood and Barrel Aged Beer” category for its Barrel Aged White Peach Blonde; and a bronze medal in the "Belgian-Style Pale Strong Ale" category for its Belgian Tripel.

"We’re so excited and honored to have competed among so many amazing breweries," said Bryce Gotuzzo of Garage Brewing Co. "We want to congratulate all other breweries who placed as well, especially our neighbors here in the Inland Empire. As always, we want to thank you for all your support and interest in our craft."

Under tight COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 San Diego International Beer Competition judging took place September 18-20 at the San Diego County Fairgrounds.

Other local brewers that took top honors during the 2020 event include Aftershock Brewing Company and Batch Mead, both of Temecula. Batch Mead claimed "2020 Best of Show Mead/Cider" for its Raspberry Chipotle Mead. Aftershock Brewing Company snagged a bronze medal in the "Herb & Spice" category for its Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Ale (Orca) and a bronze for its Love Wave Blonde in the "Golden or Blonde Beer" category.
