Temecula to Remember Newtown Victims with Vigil

The gathering in remembrance of the victims in Friday's mass school shootings in Newtown, Conn. begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 in the Temecula Civic Center Quad.

The somber sound of 26 tolling chimes will be heard Friday when the city of Temecula holds a community vigil to remember the victims who died in Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn.

Twenty students between 6 and 7 years old and six school staff, including the Sandy Hook Elementary School principal, were shot and killed Dec. 14 by a gunman identified by authorities as Adam Lanza.

The city invited residents of Temecula and surrounding areas to join Mayor Chuck Washington and Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Naggar for the remembrance ceremony, according to a news release.
