Temecula Valley Elks Announce Citizen of the Year

Mary Jo Jarrell was presented with the Citizen of the Year award for the year 2012-2013, according to a news release.

Mary Jo Jarrell was presented with the Citizen of the Year award for the year 2012-2013, according to a news release.

Jarrell, the mother of four, was the marketing director of Temecula Chic-fil-A for five years.

"Chick-fil-A and Jarrell have been major community supporters for several years," according to a news release submitted by Bob and Diane Farrens, publicity co-chairmen or Temecula Valley Elks.

"They held a weekly Family Night, a student/youth fund raising program called Spirit Night, and an annual 'Feed a Serviceman' night.

"In addition, Mary Jo made sure they supported various major Temecula Valley Elks fund raisers, such as the Golf Tournament and Wine Gala by donating coupons for free breakfast and dinner entrees, in addition to supporting the annual Temecula Elks Middle School Student of the Year."

Jarrell was also commended for serving a term as hospitality coordinator for the Wrestling PSG at Chaparral High School, which included arranging community support to feed 80 wrestlers each week during the season.
