Thunder Across Southwest Riverside County Coming From Pendleton

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Residents of Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, Wildomar and surrounding communities are hearing booming thunder Wednesday that's coming from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
The noise is artillery units training with high explosive munitions. A noise advisory is in effect from 6 a.m. to midnight, June 5-11. Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
