TVHS Girls Soccer 'Season That Almost Wasn't' Comes To An End
The lady Bears gave it their all Tuesday out on the pitch, falling to #1 seeded Harvard Westlake.
TEMECULA, CA —On Tuesday, Temecula Valley High School girls varsity soccer CIF-SS playoff hopes ended with a loss to Harvard Westlake High School in the quarter-finals. Harvard Westlake claimed victory over Temecula Valley with a score of 6-3, with forward Alyssa Thompson dominating in front of the net.
Though the Harvard Westlake keepers allowed only 2 goals all season, TVHS forwards put 3 in the net, Tuesday.

Shortly after the game began at 2:27 TVHS Junior Peyton Bundy scored with a well-placed header on a corner kick, the first goal of the game.
At 31:02 Morgan Witz scored on a penalty kick.

Kate Jacobson broke through the Harvard Westlake defense to score at 66 minutes.

Witz also garnered two assists along with her goal.
"What a season," Coach Jennifer Guinn said of her 13-2-2 team. "Yesterday's game was a battle. These girls gave it everything they had."
TVHS's girls soccer program had an undefeated preseason run, scoring 29 goals during their league, with 5 goals against.
The team won their 4th City Title and 4th League Title in 2021.
This was the program’s first trip to Division 1 quarter-finals.
Six graduating seniors are all moving on to college in the fall of 2021.
Adison Downer (Cal Poly SLO), Lauren Holmes (Boise State), Carly Peepgrass (TBD), Serena Pulopot (Brown) Katie Vanderbyl (Cal State San Marcos) and Morgan Witz (Cal Baptist).
In the season that almost wasn't amid the coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 CIF-SS playing field has narrowed.
Santiago High School won the day over Los Alamitos with a score of 2-0. They will go on to battle Harvard Westlake High School in Studio City on May 22.
Also playing in the semi-finals is Villa Park, who will play at home vs. Pacifica Garden Grove.
Villa Park claimed victory over Upland with a score of 1-0.
Pacifica Garden Grove defeated Mater Dei Tuesday in PKs, after a 1-1 tie.
