Volunteers Needed for Special Olympics Bowling Competition

Calling All Bowling Lovers!

Don't miss your chance to become one of the volunteers needed to make our Fall competitions an amazing success and create a trans-formative experience for more than 400 athletes with intellectual disabilities who will compete in our Inland Empire Regional Bowling Competition.

2019 Inland Empire Regional Bowling Competition: Saturday July 27, 2019, 8 am - 3:30 PM at Deer Creek Lanes, Rancho Cucamonga

Lane Supervisors, This person will need to have more advanced knowledge of bowling and how to work the controls on the monitor. For example, must be able to fix the scoring if an athlete bowled out of order, must be able to figure out the ball return, and must be able to fix the score if it is not correct. The primary responsibilities of this position are: Working with the Lane Monitors, relaying the results sheets back to the results area, and keeping unauthorized persons out of the competition area.

Lane Monitors, Lane Monitor is assigned to monitor a lane of 4-5 athletes. Responsible to make sure flow of the event is maintained, bowlers are bowling in the correct order, submit scores, and acquire assistance for any scoring or equipment problems. They will also work to keep the athletes in their lane post competition so awards can promptly happen.

Lane Runners, This person is responsible for helping a select number of lanes to help assist the Lane Monitors.

Medical Volunteers, This position requires volunteers to be at least 18 years of age and to have a current First Aid/CPR certification on file.

Olympic Village Assistants, Interact with athletes, spectators, and families at the Olympic Village. Olympic Village consists of games and activities for athletes when they are not competing.

Responsible for distribution and clean up for lunch for athletes/coaches.

Awards Assistants are responsible for helping organize, label, and distribute awards as divisions finish.
