Winter Storm: Snow Forecast, How Much Rain Will Temecula Get?

Here's where the thunderstorms and snow will be.

TEMECULA, CA — An incoming low-pressure system will bring rain and mountain snow to the area through Wednesday night, with gusty west/southwest winds impacting the mountains into the deserts, forecasters said.

While warmer and drier conditions are on tap Thursday and Friday in Riverside County, here's what the National Weather Service had to say about Wednesday's rain and snow for the region.

At 9:30 a.m., reports of rain had started coming in from coastal locations, the agency said.

"The main rain band will bring widespread [rain] this morning, rain will become scattered in the afternoon, with a chance of thunderstorms," the NWS reported. "Best chance of thunderstorms will be near the coast and into the western valleys, especially in San Diego County.

"Snow is expected in mountain areas today," the agency continued. "Snow levels will be 5,000 feet in the San Bernardino and Riverside mountains and 5,500 feet in the San Diego mountains."

Rainfall totals in Orange County and the Inland Empire will be between 0.10 inches to 0.30 inches. The San Diego coast and valley areas will see 0.30 inches to 0.60 inches, according to the NWS.

The San Diego County mountains could see rainfall totals of 1 inch to 1.50 inches, while the San Bernardino and Riverside mountains will see 0.50 inches to 0.75 inches of rain, the agency reported.

Desert locations are expected to receive less than 0.10 inches of rain, according to the NWS.

Snowfall totals will be 2 to 4 inches in the Riverside and San Bernardino County mountains; in the
San Diego County mountains, totals will be 3 to 6 inches with local amounts up to 8 inches.

The rain will move out from the northwest to the southeast Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, according to the agency.
