Orange County Flash Flood Watch: Holy, Canyon Fire Burn Scar Area

A flash flood watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening for all burn scar locations both in LA & OC Counties.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA —The National Weather Service has released a Flash Flood Warning for the Santa Ana Mountains, Foothills and Orange County Inland Areas. The cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Fullerton and the Mission Viejo and Unincorporated OC towns were included in the weather watch.

The flash flood watch is due to a massive Pacific storm expected to start raining a deluge over Orange County Wednesday evening throughout Thursday, locally heavy at times.
"Rainfall of around 1/2 inch or more is possible in an hour," the NWS reported. That amount of water could lead to debris flows at recent burn scars, as well as in the Holy Fire, Canyon 1 and 2 Fire burn scar areas.

"Debris flows are extremely dangerous and happen suddenly, often leaving little time to act," they reported. "It may not even be raining at your location to be impacted by a debris flow."
