Proposed Substantial Amendment to the FY 2019/20 Annual Action Plan

The Congress Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed on March 27, 2020 to respond to the growing effects of coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19. On September 11, 2020, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the allocation of the remaining Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds to state and local governments. Walnut Creek received a total allocation of $640,393 in CDBG-CV allocation to respond to, prepare for, and aid in the prevention of COVID-19. On July 21, 2020 and November 15, 2020, City Council approved a funding plan for the CDBG-CV first and third round allocation to public service programs addressing the coronavirus pandemic. The Housing and Community Development (HCD) Committee is recommending to allocate unused CDBG-CV funds to the designated CORE homeless outreach team.
