Credit Union Offers Dollar-For-Dollar Match To Meals On Wheels
The program that delivers here in Walnut Creek can get an extra $20,000 this month.
WALNUT CREEK, CA — Meals on Wheels Diablo Region, which delivers meals to seniors in Walnut Creek, has a great opportunity this month to receive an extra $20,000 in donations. The Travis Credit Union Foundation is matching gifts, dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000 in September.
Since Contra Costa County's coronavirus shelter-in-place order was issued, MOW Diablo Region is delivering meals to 40-percent more seniors than before — but there's still a waiting list. According to MOW, "Food insecurity and loneliness are problems seniors experience every day, but it has been made worse by the pandemic. Vulnerable seniors in our community depend on MOW Diablo Region to keep them healthy and safe at home, with dignity."
You may send a check by mail to this address to get the match: Checks made out to TCUF can be sent to PO Box 1086, Vacaville, CA 9587-9998. Please remember to write Meals on Wheels Diablo Region in the memo!

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
