Do You Have Designs On Walnut Creek? The City Has a Place for You

Here is a chance to serve on a key committee for the city of Walnut Creek.

Are you looking for a chance to serve your community? Applications are being accepted for a vacancy on the Design Review Commission (DRC).  The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.

The Design Review Commission reviews and approves the design components of new projects before the city; prepares, adopts and recommends to the Planning Commission and City Council standards and policies for the design of buildings; and other duties as may be required by the City Council.

The Commission meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month; occasionally it may be necessary to hold a special meeting.

This is a five-member volunteer commission appointed by the City Council. Two members must be residents of the City and three members must be registered architects, one of whom must be a registered landscape architect. The architects need not be residents of the City.

The current opening on the Design Review Commission is to fill an unexpired term ending in March 4, 2014. The newly appointed Commissioner will then be eligible for a subsequent appointment to a first full term of four years.
