WALNUT CREEK, CA — The city of Concord wants to encourage the use of public transit and has announced a one-year pilot program offering free rides on three bus routes, including one that runs between the Concord and Walnut Creek BART stations.

County Connections routes 11, 14 and 16 all serve the Monument Corridor, connecting the Concord BART station to the cities of Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek and Martinez.

Funding for the pilot is coming through the state's Low Carbon Transit Operations Program, using cap-and-trade proceeds from greenhouse gas emission reduction programs throughout California.
